About the Mission

“We renew our dedication to preserve and enhance our traditional heritage, our national identity and our respect for peace,  freedom and justice for all mankind”
-Preamble, Constitution of the Republic of Palau

Dr. Caleb Otto (right), new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Palau to the United Nations, presents his credentials to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The Republic of Palau has been an active member of the United Nations since December 15, 1994. Since it’s admission, Palau has fervently developed relations with multiple countries and has worked to develop a strong UN presence. In April of 2004, the Permanent Mission of Palau to the UN was established, solidifying Palau’s role on the world stage.

The Palau Mission’s principal task is to help an island nation create a sustainable economy, preserve its unequaled environment, and allow future generations to learn, live, and work in their homeland. The Mission, guided by these objectives, will welcome the friendship and support of the nations of the world in pursuing these goals, while strengthening Palau’s capacity to do its part in achieving the UN’s critical agenda of securing peace and prosperity for every citizen of the globe.
