The Abu Dhabi Climate Preparatory Meeting was held on 30th of June – 1st of July, 2019 to support a stocktaking of efforts within the 9 action tracks of the UN Secretary General’s 2019 Climate Action Summit. During this time a bilateral meeting was held between Palau and the UAE. Palau was represented by Honorable Minister Dr. Emais Roberts, Minister of Health who shared his thoughts on the success of the meeting with H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and the Environment and Head of Delegation.
Topics discussed during the bilateral included the ambitious SIDS deliverable being lead by Palau under the Energy Transition Coalition Track focused ( 1 of 9 action tracks) on enhancing renewable energy transition efforts in global SIDS, outcomes of the first Ministerial Meeting of Health and Climate Ministers held during the Abu Dhabi Climate Meeting and Palau’s historic hosting of the Our Ocean 2020 Conference. Minister Emais congratulated Dr. Al Zeyoudi on UAE’s leadership on ocean conservation and H.E. Olai Uludong shared on Palau’s work on climate and energy within the United Nations.
